Chemilia AB is a medicinal chemistry company that was founded in 2002. The company is focusing on drug discovery and development of small molecules and has a fully equipped laboratory for organic synthesis. Chemilia has identified a new class of small molecules that induce cell apoptosis and have an anticancer effect in various cancer cell lines. The project was started in 2009 in collaboration with researchers in Clinical Pharmacology at Uppsala University. At present the project is in preclinical stage. Several patent applications directed to novel and active therapeutic compounds have been filed, whereof one is a yet unpublished PCT application.
